William Roy Cathey

William Roy Cathey, known as "LeRoy" to his colleagues and friends, passed away on April 18, 2024, at Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville, TN. He was born on October 29, 1933, in White Bluff, TN, to the late, Bryant  and Laura Mae (Ashworth) Cathey.

During his working years, William dedicated himself to the maintenance department of Dickson County Schools until his well-earned retirement. His commitment to his work left a lasting impact on all those he encountered, earning him the respect and admiration of many.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Jean (Hayes) Cathey; son, William Roy (Yong Cha) Cathey, Jr., daughters, Reba Sue (Cathey) Shirley and Laura Ann (Rusty) Wolf, as well as his step-children Ricky Arnold, Dennis Arnold, JT Arnold, Sandra Ann Hill, and Mildred Janine Aldridge. In addition to his immediate family members, William leaves behind a legacy through his seven grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Willie Mitchell Cathey; and a brother, Robert Henry Cathey.

A visitation to honor William's life will be held at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Dickson, TN. The visitation is scheduled for April 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will resume on April 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow on April 23, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
