Sara Russell, age 73, originally from White Bluff Tennessee and a long-time resident of Mobile, passed away at her home on December 17, 2019. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a long-time volunteer in the Barnabas Ministry. Before moving to Mobile in 1975, she was a school teacher in Tennessee. After moving to Mobile, she served as a substitute teacher at Baker Elementary School and later became the bookkeeper for Baker High School, a position she held for twenty plus years until her retirement in 2000. She will be remembered as everyone's friend and always had a smile on her face. Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandsons. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilson Fussell, her mother and Stepfather Lizzie, and Jewel Shelton and her infant son, Charles Shelton Russell. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Nelson; daughter Nancy Alexander; grandsons Avery and Cody; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral service will be held at Dickson Funeral Home in Dickson Tennessee on Monday, December 23, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., preceded by visitation at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pastoral Care at Christ United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
