Joe Brown Witherspoon, age 75, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 from Covid and other health related issues. Joe was born May 26, 1945 in Detroit, MI. to John and Bertie Witherspoon. He retired from Yellow Freight Trucking Co. after 25 years and two million miles accident free. Prior to Yellow Freight, Joe spent several years as an owner operator and leased out to Tri-State Trucking Co. out of Joplin, MO. Joe loved driving and enjoyed the scenery of each state he passed through. For those that knew him, Joe was a quiet man but everyone knew where they stood with him, especially his friends at Tice's Market. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertie Witherspoon of Nashville, and his grandson, Joseph Thomas Witherspoon. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda B. Witherspoon; his sister, Doris Long of Nashville; his daughter, Wendre (Gerald) Feole; his sons, John (Catherine) Witherspoon, and Jason (Jennifer) Witherspoon; his grandchildren, Courtney (Austin) Chandler, Alex (Brittany) Feole, Peyton Witherspoon, Garrett Witherspoon, Kennedy Witherspoon, and Sienna Witherspoon; and five great-grandchildren, Natalee, Kannan, Branson, Conner, and Charleigh Grace. Those serving as Pallbearers include, John Witherspoon, Jason Witherspoon, Gerald Feole, Alex Feole, Peyton Witherspoon, and Austin Chandler; and the Honorary pallbearer will be Garrett Witherspoon. Visitation will be held at Dickson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 at 11:00 until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Shannon Clifton officiating. Interment will follow in Bowen Cemetery in Dickson, TN.
