Jerri Knutson took her last breath on the afternoon of Tuesday February 27th, 2024 at
her home in White Bluff, TN surrounded by family, caretakers, and angels from Alive
Hospice who made sure that her passing was peaceful.
Jerri, the youngest of three children, was born named Gladys Ruth Hartman on
September 26th, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA to Marx Hartman and Florence (Ninness)
Hartman. Jerri grew up in Hollywood and graduated from Hollywood High with the
class of 1965 and later attended Catherine College in LA to obtain a certificate as a
legal secretary.
On October 8, 1966, Jerri married James R. Hill in Los Angeles. The couple had two
children and later divorced. On July 11, 1970, Jerri married Dana L. Hale. The couple
had one child together and children from previous marriages and later divorced. On
February 6, 1988, Jerri married Dan C. Knutson in Las Vegas, NV. Jerri and Dan lived in
Santa Clarita, CA until 1995 when they moved to Nashville, TN where Jerri worked as a
legal secretary with HCA until 2002 when she was forced to retire due to disability
caused by MS. Jerri and Dan moved to White Bluff, TN and Dan continued to work at
Broadcast Music, Inc. in Nashville until he retired. In 2021 Jerri was diagnosed and
treated for cancer. The treatment eliminated the cancer but caused damage to her
brain and Jerri was placed under hospice care at home in 2022.
Jerri was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: C. Edwin (Gloria) Hartman,
Laurie (Obie) Gunby; and stepson: Gary Hale. Left to celebrate her memory are: her
loving husband of 36 years, Dan Knutson; children: Ernie Hill of Los Angeles, CA, Jerri
Leigh Hill of Coos Bay, OR; Eddie Hale of White Bluff, TN; grandchildren; great-grandchildren
the youngest of whom Jerri met for the first time just days before her
death; and several nieces and nephews. Last, but certainly not least, Jerri leaves the
grumpy old Tom Cat Pooh Bear to manage the affairs of all the family members.
The family wishes to thank Jami Pickering and Jessica Lehto for their loving, excellent
caregiving the past two years and to all of the staff at Alive Hospice. You are all angels!
The family requests that donations be made to Alive Hospice or the Dickson County Human Society.
At Jerri's request, her body will be cremated and no public ceremony will be held.
