James Julian Balthrop

James “Jimmy” Julian Balthrop James “Jimmy” Julian Balthrop age 76 of Dickson, TN died at his home on Friday, January 28, 2022. Mr. Balthrop was born January 7, 1946, in Tennessee City, TN. He was a son of the late Nolan Alonzo Balthrop and Delcie Wildon Jordan Balthrop. He was pre-ceded in death by His loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Joan Adams Balthrop, who died at age 73 August 30, 2021. A brother William Nolan Alonzo Balthrop, Sr. James “Jimmy” attended TN City School and Dickson High School. He was an active member of Future Famers of America and attended Tennessee Forestry Training Camp. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Airforce. After serving, he was employed by the Royal Crown Bottling Co., Nashville, TN. He became a crane and heavy equipment engineer for McCord Crane Service, Nashville, TN and TVA, Cumberland City, TN. He later retired from Quebecor World Printing, Dickson, TN after 25 years of service. He was also a bonded licensed Locksmith. James was a 50+ year Member and Past Master of TN City Lodge #548 F. & A. M. A 32nd degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 25+ year member of Tennessee Lodge of Research, F. & A. M. Served 5 years as County Chairman of Dickson, Co. F. & A. M. , A member of International Union of Operating Engineers #369 until his retirement. , a lifetime member of the NRA, National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, and Owl Hollow Gun Club. He has won several awards for his shooting marksmanship. He and his wife Carolyn were both members of The Academy of Model Aeronautics and Columbia R/C Flying Modelers. Those left to cherish his memory, are two daughters, Michele (Bryan) Long, and Jamie McDaniel both of Dickson, TN ; one sister Sandra Nell Balthrop Wanamaker of Dickson, TN ; Six grand children, Autumn Pasquale, Bryan J. (Sarah) Long, Ashton (David) Tipton, Aaron Long, Branden McDaniel and Ryan McDaniel ; six great-grand-children, Jacob, Cadance, Alivia, Brantley, Ty and Harley; two step-great-grand-children, Talan and Hannah. Mr. Balthrop’s wishes were to be cremated. A visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday evening, March 10 2022 ; with a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. and a Masonic Memorial Service afterwards. Services will be held at TN City Lodge #548 F. & A. M. Hwy 70 West, TN City, TN. Interment to his place of rest will be at Union Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 -“So mote it be”-
