Dorothy Marie Hood

Mrs. Dorothy Marie Hood, of Dickson, Peacefully passed away January 20, 2019 at her residence in Dickson. She was 87 years of age. Survivors include: son, Roy Hood and his wife Shirley of Milton, TN; daughter Linda Farthing and her husband Danny of Dickson; brother Charles Deal and wife Brenda of Sweetwater; sisters Elizabeth Bishop and husband Hubert of Dickson and Mai McFarlin of Vine Grove, KY. There are three grandchildren: Dana Greer and husband Eric, Ryan Hood, and Emily Hood. Two great grandchildren are Tucker and Ashley Greer. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Freeman and Lena May (Chester) Deal, husband Hubert Lester Hood, and brothers Edward and Leo Deal. Dorothy Hood grew up learning the importance of working hard and saving, which her parents taught her well. She had a goal of working 50 years before retiring, and that goal was met. She took great pride in her home and her yard, greatly enjoying doing her mowing and caring for her flowers. She loved her family and her Yorkie, B.J., but, most of all, she loved the Lord. Visitation will be Friday, January 25th, at the Dickson Funeral Home from 4-8 pm and Saturday, January 26th, from 11 am until time of service. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 26th, from the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home beginning at 1 pm with Bro. Terry Bear officiating. Burial will follow in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
