“DOTTIE SMITH” (Dorothy L. Barham) was called home to the Lord from her residence in Iola, Ks. On October 17th, 2018. Born in Dickson, Tennessee to Fiddlin’ Arthur L. Smith & Nettie J. Baker Smith along with her twin brother, Donald O. Smith June 27th, 1933, both being raised within a very musical family on what was known as Smith Hill in Dickson, Tn. She spent a great deal of time with her Father at the Opry & later moving to Tulsa to begin her career as a singer/songwriter from the 1950’s through 1972, entertaining & singing with greats such as Roy Acuff, Tex Ritter, Johnnie Lee Wills, PeeWee King, Roy Clark, Eldon Shamblin, Gordon Terry, Loretta Lynn, Ernest Tubb, Jerry Lee Lewis, & Merle Haggard performing at Cain’s Ballroom and the Brady Theater, The Long Horn Brothers’ Show, and many benefits & events for the Tulsa, Ok. Police & Fire Departments, also singing on tv with KTUL & several radio shows with Billy Parker.
Proceeded in death by her parents, Arthur & Nettie, brothers & sisters: Ernest L. Smith, Arthur L. Smith Jr., Robert L. Smith, Jackie R. Smith, Pat Slatton, Edythe Carlisle, Geraldine Walp, & Lavonne Brown. Her first born son, Johnnie ‘Chip’ Ramsey & first born granddaughter, Anastacia Marie Gideon.
Survivors include: Children: Renee’ Ramsey, Iola, Ks., Robert Ramsey & Mike Barham, Tulsa, Ok., Dottie McLeroy, Noble, Ok., & children by heart, Susan Ramsey, James Wolfe, and Rusty Smith. Siblings: Gene & husband Bill Olafsen of Irving, Tx., Douglas Smith of Shepherdsville, Ky., William (Billy) C. Smith of Dickson, Tn. Wife of Jackie, Peggy Smith also of Dickson, and twin, Donald O. & Kitty Smith of Hardinsburg, In.. Grandchildren: Rachelle Shelton, Kristi Moore, Chris Ramsey, Robert McLeroy, Samantha Hammond, Mikayla Ramsey, Chance Barham, Tad Barham, Emie Barham, spending most of her last 6 years of life in Kansas with Natacia & Brian Rowe, Janae Diviney, Nadia Snow, & great-grandchildren: Jonathan Rowe, Johnnie & Christina Gideon, 1st born great, Kevin Rowe with Jessie Pingree, blessing Dottie with her 1st born great-great-grandson, Clinton James, along with Ke’aunna Willard, Asaiah Lee, who spent this past year with her on a daily basis, then being blessed with Kyli’ah Gore, three days after being called home. From Oklahoma: Becca Renee, Cody, Johnny, Harvey, Sharlee, Ethan, Riley, Emilee, Halley, Esha, Hayden, Avery, Kaitlyn, & Preslie. Several Nieces & Nephews, each holding a special place in her heart.
Services will be held at the: Dickson Funeral Home, 209 E. College St., Dickson, Tn.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 2nd, from 4 pm to 8 pm and Saturday, Nov. 3rd, from 10 am till 1 pm
