Calvin Edward Reeves

September 12, 1943 — February 20, 2021

Calvin Edward Reeves, 77, of Burns, Tennessee, passed away on February 20, 2021 after a protracted battle with cancer. Cal (also known as Butchie or Uncle Boo) was born on September 12, 1943 to Calvin and Mary Reeves in Chicago. He was the oldest of 6 children. After graduating from Lane Tech High School in 1961, he kicked off his woodworking career manufacturing guitars, cellos, bases and violins. Cal and his woodworking talent were even showcased on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. In 1960, he met Antionette (Toni) in Junior Achievement, and they wed in 1962, going on to have 2 beautiful daughters, Cathryn and Christine. The family spent lots of vacations traveling the US and visiting our National Parks and camping with our large group of family friends in Wisconsin. Cal was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a passionate Chicago White Sox fan and a huge Country Music enthusiast. After retiring in 2008, Cal and Toni spent their time breeding and training labrador retrievers in Woodstock, IL before heading to warm and sunny Tennessee for his final years. His dogs loved him and were by his side at the end. Cal was predeceased by his parents, Calvin and Mary Reeves and nephew Brian Freese. He is survived by his wife Toni, daughters Cathryn (James) Johnson and Christine (Timothy) Pyburn, brothers Thomas (Robin) Reeves, Richard (Karen) Reeves and sisters JoAnn (George) Freese, Joy (Michael) Schmidt and Sandra (Ronald) Maracle, grandchildren Maximillian Johnson, Alyssa Pyburn, Jillian Johnson and Kelly Pyburn, many nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. Since Cal was not a suit man, we are laying him to rest in his black leather vest. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Dickson Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. The service will be streamed live via Zoom: Meeting ID: 779 5500 7816 Passcode: hz98tz Arrangements by Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center Online condolences may be left at www.dicksonfuneralhome.com
