Bennie "Ray" Vanover, 62, of Lyles, passed away on June 29, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born in Jenkins, KY on April 9, 1960; where he grew up before moving to Tennessee. He is survived by his kids, son, Shea (Caitlin) of Bon Aqua, TN; daughters, Vada (Colby) of Lyles, TN, and Elle (Trey) of Carthage, TN; grandchildren, Autumn Kinnard, Claire Kinnard, Karter McMillion; siblings, Helen Duvall, Rosemary Mullins, Vern Vanover, and Linda Stewart; and his dog, Betty. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Dora Vanover; his wife, Tammy Kay; sister, Mary Ratliff; brothers, Bobby, Billy and Jonah "Popeye" Mullins; and his dog, Jazz. Ray was the best father, brother, uncle, papa and friend. His grandchildren called him Papa Chief. In his free time he enjoyed drag racing, drawing, and building stuff out of wood. He enjoyed old muscle cars. His favorite shows were old westerns and cartoons. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2022 at Dickson Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Dickson Funeral Home.
