Anita Ruth McElroy, known for her dedicated career as a registered nurse at St. Thomas Hospital and the loving essence she brought to all who knew her, passed away on April 14, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. She was a beacon of compassion, selflessness, and intelligence throughout her lifetime.
Born on January 12, 1932, in Kingston Springs, TN, Anita excelled in her education, proudly graduating as the valedictorian of her class at Bellevue High School before earning her Bachelor's degree in nursing. Her commitment to caring for others shone brightly in both her professional and personal life.
Described as loving, caring, giving, and smart by those closest to her, Anita's generosity knew no bounds. She always prioritized the needs of others above her own and found joy in giving back to her community. Her deep love for Kingston Springs endured throughout her life, as she continued living in the very same home where she was raised.
Anita's passion for nature was evident in her hobbies and interests; she adored watching and feeding birds, dogs, and wildlife. Her kindness extended not only to human beings but also to the creatures she shared this world with.
Anita Ruth McElroy is preceded in death by her parents Cheatham Edward and Ruth Judd McElroy. She is survived by her sister Carolyn Cauthen, niece Anita (Bobby) Steen, nephew Brad (Leigh Ann) Cauthen, as well as great nephews and niece Connor, Mackenzie, and Logan. Their lives have been forever touched by Anita's profound love and unwavering care.
The visitation service for Anita will be held on April 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Dickson Funeral Home- White Bluff Chapel in White Bluff, TN. This will be followed by a Funeral Service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. Interment will follow in Kingston Springs Cemetery.
Anita Ruth McElroy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her vibrant spirit and experiencing her boundless kindness. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
