Hubert E. Moss

MOSS, Mr. Hubert Moss Age 86 of Nunnelly, TN. On Monday, August 26, 2013, Hubert Moss passed away peacefully at his home on the land that he loved. Hubert was born December 24th, 1926 in Hickman County, TN to the late Cave Johnson Moss and Mary Alice Beard. Preceded in death by brother, Harvel Ray Moss, sisters, Dorothy Bumbalough and Beatrice Batts. Hubert is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Hester Moss; his son, Jeff (Becky) Moss, and daughter Deborah (B.Y.) Peery; his sister, Margaretta (Danny) Goodpasture and brother Homer (Dale) Moss; his eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, plus many other relatives. Hubert Moss served his country proudly and was a veteran of WWII serving with the 86th Infantry Division in the Philippines. Last September, 2012, Hubert was selected to visit our nation's capital as part of the Honor Flight program accompanied by his son (Jeff), his nephew (Bill Steber) and Bill's wife (Pat Casey Daley). As a Master Gardener, Hubert spent countless hours growing crops in his local garden to serve friends, family and the community. Hubert was also an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman but most of all he was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 from the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville, TN officiated by Devin Pickard, Bill Steber and Mike Kelly. Burial will be at Charles L Nickell Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mike Batts, Steve Batts, Tracy Batts, Jon Mayberry, J.T. Moss and Blake Moss.
