Everett Blake Cowan, Jr.

Mr. Everett Blake Cowan, Jr. was born August 1, 1912 to Everett Blake Cowan, Sr. and Corinne (Murphey) Cowan in Dickson County, Tennessee. He passed away July 9, 2013 at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living of Brentwood. He was 100 years of age. He is survived by: son Everett Hugh Cowan and his wife Katheryne of Brentwood; daughter Betty Blake Abernathy and her husband Eugene Bailey Abernathy of Biloxi, Mississippi; grandchildren Beth Thomas (Richard), Karen Abernathy, Chris Cowan (Kim), and Jeffrey Cowan; great grandchildren Charlie Gregory, Bailey Hewes, Henderson Hewes, and Katie Cowan; and great great grandchild Aaron Gregory. Besides his parents, Mr. Cowan is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Lou (Dudley) Cowan, sister Florence Turner Cowan, grandson Matthew Aldridge Cowan, and great great grandson Gary Blake Gregory. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11th, at the First Presbyterian Church of Dickson (Main Street) from 4:30-6:00 pm. Private Graveside Services will be on Thursday, July 11th, beginning at sunset with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery of Dickson. Blake was a faithful Presbyterian all his life, serving as a Sunday School teacher, elder, clerk of the session, and numerous other roles in church activities.
