Mr. Vernon Gene Lewis was born February 6, 1931 to Edward D. and Novella (Word) Lewis in Old Johnsonville, Kentucky. He passed away February 10, 2013 at Signature Healthcare Center of Erin. He was 82 years of age. Survivors include: step-son Jay B. Jones of Dickson; daughter REbecca Lewis Baker of Nashville; step-daughter Margaret Newsom of Nashville; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews from Dickson and surrounding areas. Besides his parents, Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his wife Anna Lee Lewis, brothers Edward, Robert, Jack, Harrison, William, and Paul G. Lewis, sisters Mary E. Lewis Martin, Willa R. Lewis Minter, and Annie Bell Lewis Strickland. He was the last from a family of ten. Visitation will be Friday, February 15th, from 5-8 pm and Saturday, February 16th, from 11 am until time of service. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 16th, from the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home beginning at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the East Dickson Cemetery. Mr. Lewis formerly worked as a cook at Montgomery Bell State Park. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Arrangements by Dickson Funeral Home.
