Mrs. Nina Muriel Hale Burris Raysor, age 99, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, September 21st, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her first husband and the Father of her children, Capt. Zinnie Paul Burris of the old Davidson County Sheriff's Department, Odell Hale of Alexandria, TN, and Clifford "Tip" Raysor of Columbia, South Carolina, and a daughter, Barbara Soroka (Eric) of Boynton Beach, Florida. She is survived by two sons, retired Metro Police Lt. William Paul Burris (Arlene) and retired Metro Police Sgt. Zinnie Vernon Burris (Elaine), and step-son Russell Burris (Candie) of Antioch. Grandchildren are Katrina Smithson, Lisa Webster (Otho), Terry Williams (Rick), ronnie Burris (Sharon), Steve Burris (Tina), Ricky Burris (Missy), Keith Moore, Alicia Fleming, Michelle Reid (Tank), Darlene Moore (all of Nashville), Clifford Williams of Omahan Nebraska, Denise Raybourn (Butch) of Orlando, Florida, Michael Ayers of Tampa, Florida, Gary Ayers (Patti) of Kansas City, Kansas, Tammy Stone (Rusty) of Indiana, and David Sims of West Palm Beach, Florida. She was the great grandmother of 29 and the great great grandmother of six. She was a member of the Judson Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from the Avco Mfg. Plant in Nashville. She had a bit of a temper, but a heart of gold. She would help anyone, especially her family members. She is a direct descendent of John McMurtry who fought in the Revolutionary War with George Washington. Her deceased grandfather was John W. Cheek of Ridgetop in Robertson County. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 26th, at the Woodlawn Chapel in Nashville, Tennessee beginning at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons. Pastor Randy Franklin of the Bethel Baptist Church in Dickson will conduct the service.
