Hugh Willey Gilliam

Mr. Hugh Willey Gilliam was born June 29, 1921 to Guy and Alice (Larkins) Gilliam in Dickson County, Tennessee. He passed away at his residence in White Bluff on September 12, 2011. He was the last of three siblings. Survivors include: son Willis Gilliam; daughter Janice Robertson (Johnny); step-sons Lewis Oakes, Dr. Gary Oakes (Donna), Doug Oakes (Dorothy), Roger Oakes (Becky); grandchildren Daniel and Devin Gilliam and Trey, Jason, and Justin Robertson. Besides his parents, Mr. Gilliam is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years Georgia Almeda Gilliam, second wife Ola Mae Oakes Gilliam, and brothers Harry and Freddy Gilliam, and step-sonh Wayne Oakes. Mr. Gilliam proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13th, at the White Bluff Chapel from 2-8 pm and Wednesday, September 14th, at the White Bluff Church of Christ from 9 am until time of service. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14th, from the White Bluff Church of Christ beginning at 11 am with Bro. Johnny Robertson (his son-in-law) officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Leatherwood.
