Mr. Melvin Thomas McCormick was born October 31,1943 to Robert Odell and Sallie (Thompson) McCormick in Hamilton County, Tennessee. He passed away suddenly at Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly. Survivors include: four sons, James Kissel McCormick of San Antonio, Texas, Chris McCormick and his wife Tammy of Lebanon, Robert H. McCormick of Fairview, and Aaron McCormick and his wife Andrea of Williamsport; two daughters, Samantha Gardner and her husband David of Murfreesboro and Kara McCormick of Nashville. There are nine grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. McCormick is preceded in death by sister Mildred Kennedy and brothers Jesse, Billy, Gene, and Irvin McCormick. Visitation will be from the Fairview Chapel on Wednesday, April 20th, from 2-8 pm and Thursday, April 21st, from 8 am until time of service. Funeral services will be from the Fairview Chapel beginning at 9 am with Bro. Fred Mayberry officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Hills Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee beginning at 2 pm CST. Mr. McCormick proudly served his country (1961-1970) in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He later served as a police officer for Williamson County, Fairview City, Metropolitan Nashville Police, and Bellvue City. He will be buried with military honors.
